INTRODUCTORY ALPINIST
A 6 day course, June – September.
This course is for fell walker ( back country walkers) who wish to discover the Alps while gaining knowledge and skills in glacier travel and ascending easy summits.

Climbing
Day 1: Rock climbing in or around the Chamonix valley.

Snow Slope
Day 2: Ice skills on the Mer de glace glacier. Covering: cramponing, ice climbing, moving roped up and crevasse rescue.

Glacier walking
Day 3: Traverse the Valleé Blanche followed by a night in a mountain hut.


Arete
Day 4: Traversing an exposed mountain ridge.

Slab
Day 5: Walk into a mountain hut, if possible some rock climbing during the approach walk.

 

Snow Slope
Day 6: Ascent of an alpine summit.


This is the suggested basic programme, which may change depending on participants aims, ambitions, technical ability, weather and mountain conditions.
Guiding Fee: Euros 1920. Guide/client max 1/3. This fee can be shared between 1- 3 persons.

In all courses, the stated guided fee covers the guiding services of an I F M G A certified mountain guide only.
The following is not included: accommodation, any form of transport, meals and drinks. At the clients charge also is the guide's living costs when not based in the Chamonix valley.

 

INSURANCE:
It is essential to be adequately insured by a specialist company, which must cover all mountaineering activities. Also consider travel insurance.
